![]() rtf file, which you can then open with OpenOffice. Your problem is with the scanner, not AOO, so you should be asking questions in the scanner forum, not here. I downloaded the Advanced Manual for the MFC-J220 and it says nothing about OCR so it looks like the Brother Scanner itself does not include an OCR capability. Scanner vendors usually include a 3rd party OCR package with their scanner - my Canon comes with the ScanSoft OCR software.ġ Use the scanner to scan an image of the text and save it as a PNG file - say fred.pngĢ Run your OCR software (Start > All programs > find it. ), and tell it to process fred.png and convert it to text. Or just copy the text using Edit > Copy.ģ Open the. Or create a new document with AOO and paste from the clipboard. Sometimes Steps 1 and 2 and 3 can all be controlled from the OCR software - you start the OCR software and tell it to scan the paper document, convert it, and save it. The real question is "Why are you trying to do this by scanning and OCR?" Of course, if the files are images on the DOS machine, then you don't need to scan them - just process the images with OCR software. But if they are text files from an ancient word processor or editor, ask what format are the files? Assume they are called fred.XYZ. ![]() ![]() ![]() It is MUCH better to take fred.XYZ and find a program which will read the. XYZ file so you can get the text and paste it into AOO. ![]()
